Roots of Estonian foodways: from biomolecular datasets to comprehensive studies

Biomolecular archaeology is advancing rapidly, generating digitally recorded analyses with strong potential for methodological, temporal, and cultural comparisons. In Estonia, however, relevant data remain scattered across separate case studies, publications, projects, and research groups. As a result, valuable biomolecular evidence is underused, difficult to compare, and largely inaccessible for broader scientific and societal benefit.
This project aims to centralize Estonian dietary biomolecular datasets into a long-term, standardized, open-access repository to promote reuse and cross-study comparability.

The project is funded by the Estonian Research Council, under the National Program: Estonian Language and Culture in the Digital Age (EKKD-TA).
