Archaeobotany Lab

The Archaeobotany Lab at the University of Tartu specialises in the analysis of plant macroremains from archaeological excavations and plant microremains—primarily starch grains and phytoliths—recovered from pottery food crusts and dental calculus. The laboratory houses a reference collection focused mainly on Estonian plants, including a wide range of different plant parts.
